Background

Jose was born and raised in Oakland, CA. At the age of five, Jose started playing soccer. He credits his early start in the game to the kids in his neighborhood and his father's love for soccer. As a youth, Jose played for local East Bay clubs, including Oakland Barcelona, Union City Hornets, and San Jose Earthquakes. Jose believes futbol is an amazing sport that brings people from different cultures and backgrounds together. For Jose, futbol allows anyone to zone out and express themselves on the field. In his words, "anything going wrong in life is left behind and the field is the most amazing safe zone." When Jose is not on the field, he is spending time with his border collie, Koda. He loves going on hikes and exploring what's fun and new in the city. "I enjoy helping kids in anyway they need and being able to express my joy for the game through their daily improvement. I want my players to remember me as a hardworking and helpful person."
