Background

Valery Gutierrez was born in Oakland and grew up in San Leandro. Her playing career helped her stay on a positive route and included stints with Union City Premier, California Northstars, and East Bay United - Bay Oaks, before culminating at City College of San Francisco. Valery loves everything about soccer, the competitiveness, the environment, the connections, and the lifestyle it creates. About coaching at Magic, she says, "Magic is such a good environment. People truly care about you. It's a great place to grow and become better than I am now." Off the field Valery's passions are working out, physical therapy, and cupping therapy. "I love building connections. Being able to be a role model for the younger ones. Being that safe person in an environment where they can just focus on playing."
